Barbara Ann Corcoran
Barbara Ann Corcoran (born March 10 1949) is an American businesswoman investor and speaker. She is also a consultant, speaker writer, syndicated columnist, author, and television personality. The Corcoran Group was a New York City real estate brokerage she established. NRT purchased it for $66 million in 2001. Corcoran eventually left the business. Corcoran has participated in 12 episodes of ABC's Shark Tank seasons. Corcoran had signed 53 contracts as of February, 2020. Her largest deal was her investment of $350,000 in Coverplay with a 40% stake. Corcoran was the second child of 10 kids born to an Irish-Catholic couple working in the middle class located in Edgewater, New Jersey. Her mother, Florence, was a homemaker. Her father, Edwin W. Corcoran Jr. was a bouncing from job to job throughout Corcoran's childhood. Her family depended sometimes on food deliveries from an artisanal local grocery store for free food. Corcoran remembers her father as a man who often drank too much and treated her mother with disrespect and condescension, particularly when he was drinking. Corcoran had difficulty at school and later found out she was dyslexic. Corcoran began in high school at St. Cecilia High School Englewood following her time at a Catholic elementary school. Corcoran was proficient in a variety of courses her first year. She was transferred to Leonia High School and graduated with a D.
